These organizations have already signed letters of support for this facility planning effort and voiced the need for a Multi—Use Recreational and Conference Centre.
Commitments are expected from Local Government and Community Based Organizations that will utilize this facility for special programs, conferences and to serve client populations. These commitments will be in the form of ‘contracts for services’ and will be made on an ongoing basis. While these commitments are not yet in writing, discussions are in progress with Local Government to acquire land, The Department of Education for the Violence in School Project, National Lottery and The Department Arts & Culture for funding, as well as Upington Campus for licencing of trainees.
Additional sources of revenue for operating and maintaining the facility include earned income from admissions, concessions, and in some alternatives, from office, small business rental space and meeting space. Partner community organizations are
also expected to contribute to the operating budget on an annual basis.
COMMUNITY INPUT
-
Gathering community input is the primary goal of this strategic planning process. The final plan which will develop through this process will help the Executive Board find a balance between community needs and desires and the practical and financial realities that will determine when and how this centre will be finished.
